Windows 'Blue Screen Of Death' Makes Olympic Debut
According to Gizmodo, which posted photos of the Olympics blue screen, the error message was projected on the roof of Beijing National Stadium (also known at the Bird's Nest) just as former Chinese gymnast Li Ning was being pulled through the air before lighting the Olympic torch.
Several commenters on Gizmodo and other blogs are insisting that the images are Photoshopped hoaxes. A Microsoft spokesperson couldn't confirm their authenticity, saying only that the version of Windows used during the event wasn't Windows Vista.
The blue screen has made its presence known on numerous occasions, filling monitor screens at airports, malls, Times Square, and even during Bill Gates' unveiling of Windows 98 at Comdex in 1998.
According to Wikipedia, blue screens can be triggered by a wide variety of system problems, including bad memory or hardware, power supply voltage discrepancies, component overheating, and hardware operating beyond its specification limits.
