Perot Systems Acquires BearingPoint Management Consulting
Dell in September acquired Perot Systems to expand its service offerings and better position the No. 2 computer-maker in the U.S. to compete against rival PC-maker Hewlett-Packard. Perot's acquisition of BearingPoint brings to Dell a consulting company based in China that will help expand Dell's global reach into the marketplace.
"BearingPoint China Consulting is highly respected for its consultancy services, and we are pleased to add their complementary expertise to our existing global consulting services," Peter Altabef, president and CEO of Perot Systems, said in a statement.
The Chinese consulting company was founded in 2001 and bills itself as providing "deep industry and consultancy expertise to clients in China's energy, automotive, insurance and financial services industries."
"Our clients and our consultants will benefit from the deep industry expertise, mature global delivery model and strong financial position of Perot Systems. Our clients can be assured that we will continue delivering world-class service to our clients, and we will have the backing of two world leaders with unprecedented leadership of entrepreneurship, innovation and real values," Ron Machan, chairman and CEO of BearingPoint China Consulting, said in a statement.
The China-based company will become part of the Perot Systems Commercial Solutions business unit, according to the company.
Perot's acquisition of BearingPoint is ultimately in line with Dell's current strategy to branch out from providing just hardware to customers and taking a deeper dive into more of a service-oriented business model.
The terms of Perot's acquisition of BearingPoint Management Consulting were not disclosed. Dell in September acquired Plano, Texas-based Perot Systems in a deal worth $3.9 billion.
