Motorola's Warrior Says Hello To Cisco CTO Post
The networking vendor Tuesday said Padmasree Warrior has joined Cisco as its CTO, a position that has been empty since 2005 when it was last held by current Cisco Chief Development Officer Charles Giancarlo.
Warrior had served as executive vice president and CTO of Motorola since 2003 and held numerous positions during her 23-year tenure at the company, according to a Cisco statement.
She will report to Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers.
In a post on Cisco's blog, Warrior said the San Jose, Calif.-based networking vendor is on the forefront of the next Internet evolution.
"Today, it is a company driving many new paradigms in communications and information technology. In the future, it will be a company poised to lead the industry to the next phase of Internet evolution," she said.
Warrior's departure from Motorola, made public Monday, follows last week's management shakeup at the Schaumburg, Ill.-based company in which CEO Edward Zander is stepping down on January 1.
Zander will continue to serve as Motorola's chairman until the company's stockholder meeting in May. Motorola President and COO Greg Brown will succeed him as CEO. Chief Strategy Officer Rich Nottenberg will succeed Warrior as CTO.
