Growing Unitas Global Boosts Engineering Capabilities With Deal For AOS Cloud
Enterprise-facing cloud services provider Unitas Global has acquired the cloud services arm of Alexander Open Systems, adding several services to its portfolio and bolstering its engineering capabilities.
The acquisition of Overland Park, Kan.-based AOS Cloud, which brings with it the expertise of 28 operations engineers, is important for the growing Unitas, based in Los-Angeles, its CEO, Patrick Shutt, told CRN.
The deal was announced last week; financial details were not released.

Shutt said that for Unitas to keep growing (He said annual revenue has soared from $3 million to $20 million over the last two years.), it's important that the company have the right talent on board.
’We are growing, and our priority with this acquisition is gaining that operational engineering talent,’ he said.
Alexander Open Systems, which offers a broader set of technology solutions, ranks 102nd on CRN's Solution Provider 500 list.
Unitas offers a number of private, public and hybrid cloud solutions, along with security, IT outsourcing and disaster recovery products to enterprise-level clients. The company also partners with smaller companies in the channel that leverage its offerings as part of their solutions.
Through the acquisition of AOS Cloud, Shutt said Unitas will integrate a number of the provider’s cloud backup and monitoring solutions, bolstering Unitas’ current provisioning and monitoring solutions and its managed hosting and services portfolio.
With the acquisition, Unitas will pick up all 80 AOS Cloud clients in Kansas, Nebraska, Texas and Missouri, more than tripling Unitas' client roster.
’This opportunity puts AOS in the unique position to be able to leverage (Unitas') cloud management platform and key technology expertise of our existing engineering team, while enabling us to provide customers access to Unitas’ enterprise-grade cloud solutions,’ AOS CEO Grant Cynor said in a statement, released Friday.
’This is a perfect deal for us. We are expecting to continue to grow, (and) the key to that growth is having the talent to help us scale,’ Shutt said.
