ePlus Acquiring Cisco Premier Partner And Software Development Specialist OneCloud

Solution provider ePlus Technology is acquiring a cloud and software development specialist that it says will allow it add DevOps and OpenStack expertise to help clients with cloud-based solutions and infrastructure.

ePlus Technology's parent company, Herndon, Va.-based ePlus, says the deal for OneCloud Consulting, of Milpitas, Calif., is expected to close Wednesday. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The deal comes less than six months after ePlus Technology acquired Minneapolis-based Consolidated IT Service in a bid to expand ePlus' practice around Cisco products into the Upper Midwest. ePlus – No. 34 on CRN's Solution Provider 500 – is a Cisco partner.

"Applications and cloud strategy are at the core of the digital economy," Mark Marron, CEO of ePlus, said in a statement. "OneCloud’s skills and expertise further strengthens our hybrid IT capabilities, enabling our clients to achieve their business objectives."

One Cloud employs a team of consultants, data center architects and technical trainers. The company has been in business for over 20 years and has operations in India, the U.K., Singapore, Australia and the United Arab Emirates. It's a Premier Partner of Cisco, and also partners with RedHat, OpenStack, Docker and VCE.

"With OneCloud Consulting’s highly experienced team, a culture of innovation, and a drive to create transformative experiences for clients and employees alike, the combination with ePlus will [help] capture a broad spectrum of cloud opportunities," One Cloud's CEO, Sudheesh Subhashitan, said in the statement distributed by ePlus.

"Together, the combined strengths of our organizations will allow us to deliver the cloud services ecosystem which are the most in-demand from the marketplace and our clients.’

Meanwhile, OneCloud CTO Manish Tandon said the company is familiar with ePlus through "a number of engagements" over the past several years. "Clients have been extremely satisfied with the results we’ve delivered together," Tandon said in the ePlus statement.

Subhashitan, Tandon and other OneCloud executives will remain with ePlus, according to ePlus spokesman Kley Parkhurst. OneCloud and ePlus executives weren't immediately available for further comment.

In the company's 10-Q report for its 2017 fiscal third quarter, which ended Dec. 31, company officials said they expect ePlus to continue to expand and hire more staff for specific targeted market areas.

Just after he took over as CEO last summer, Marron told financial analysts the solution provider has placed technology bets in areas such as security and hyper-converged infrastructure to position itself for future growth.
