StorageCraft: One Size Does Not Fit All For A Solution Provider’s Business Model

StorageCraft featured what it described as its next-generation data protection and fail-safe recovery products during a breakout session Tuesday at XChange 2018, hosted by CRN parent The Channel Company.

The Draper, Utah-based company unveiled two products Monday -- OneXafe and ShadowXafe -- and spoke to an audience of solution providers the following day about how they can take the technology to their customers.

StorageCraft described OneXafe as a ground-breaking converged data platform that eliminates storage and data protection silos and scales out to manage “explosive data growth.”

“We know that one size does not fit all,” said Jeannine Edwards, senior director of channel marketing at StorageCraft, in the session. “One size does not fit all in your business model. Whether you’re serving the small-business customer to the midmarket business customer up to the enterprise level, there’s a solution that makes sense for that customer and you need to be able to take that solution, in a right-fit way, to that customer.”

ShadowXafe, meanwhile, is a “next-generation” data protection offering for business continuity, which the company said is designed for small to midsize businesses. StorageCraft -- a privately held company that boasts more than 8,000 channel partners and 10,000 MSPs -- said ShadowXafe is simple to deploy and easy to manage.

Miguel Moreno, president of Alfa Logos, Quebec, Montreal, said he was eager to attend StorageCraft’s session because the company has cutting-edge technology.

“They’re very interesting. It has brought a new perspective into the business,” said Moreno. “I really find that they have moved ahead of technology. It brings new opportunities for us to go and market that product to our customers.”

Moreno said he was concerned about how he could use StorageCraft’s products without bringing his customers’ data into the U.S. and asked the StorageCraft team, who told him the company has dedicated servers in Canada so the data would remain there.

“We feel secure that we are not going to be bringing our customers’ Canadian data into any other backup solution outside of Canada,” he said. “It’s really encouraging to us.”

Marc Menzies, president and CTO of Overview Technology Solutions, Long Island, N.Y., said he was encouraged at how receptive the StorageCraft team was to his feedback during a conversation after the session about how smaller solution providers like his could partner with the company.

“Their presentation was great,” he said. “They had a lot of information; there was a lot of energy in the room. I think they did an excellent job. I look forward to having further conversations with them later.”

Edwards said ShadowXafe is available now, while OneXafe will be available soon.

“We’re committed to a road map all through the winter that will continue to bring great features to these products,” she said.
