Salesforce Scoops Up Model Metrics In Cloud, Mobile, Social Services Push
The terms of the deal were not released, and the acquisition is expected to close early next year.
Snagging Chicago-based Model Metrics gives Salesforce a mobile and social cloud consulting services division, which Model Metrics has cultivated since it launched in 2003. At Dreamforce 2011, Salesforce unveiled its vision of the social enterprise, through which companies leverage cloud, social and mobile technologies to foster agility. Salesforce executives said the addition of Model Metrics will sharpen that vision.
"We are thrilled with the incredible response from customers and partners to the social enterprise vision," George Hu, Salesforce COO, said in a statement. "The addition of Model Metrics' mobile and social expertise will accelerate Salesforce.com's ability to lead the shift to the social enterprise and empower partners to develop their social enterprise practice."
Bringing aboard Model Metrics will give Salesforce the ability to offer new services around cloud, mobile and social, and continue to hone its partner community around that trio of next-gen technologies.
For eight years, Model Metrics has been an evangelist for cloud computing and the cloud solution provider has been banging the mobile and social drums for years and now boasts more than 500 customers and 1,000 Salesforce deployments, including some of the largest mobile and social cloud deployments.
"Our core services strategy has always been to create a thriving partner ecosystem, and this acquisition enables us to double down on that strategy in the world of the social enterprise," added Maria Martinez, executive vice president, Customers for Life, at Salesforce. "With Model Metrics, our strategic services team will have more of the mobile and social capabilities required to enable and accelerate the success of our partner ecosystem."
Salesforce said that the Model Metrics team will join its strategic services organization and focus on developing and sharing best practices with partners to accelerate social enterprise success. Salesforce added that its partners will be able to utilize Model Metrics' expertise in mobile and social design conception, user experience, business process alignment and frameworks for building employee and customer facing apps.
"Salesforce.com and Model Metrics share a vision for the social enterprise," Model Metrics CEO and founder Adam Caplan said in a statement. "By joining Salesforce.com, we can help more companies unlock the value of cloud computing with disruptive mobile and social technologies."
