CyrusOne Constructing New Data Center Campus In Silicon Valley
Fast-growing global data center provider CyrusOne is building a campus in Santa Clara, Calif. that it says will be the largest mission-critical data center concentration in Silicon Valley.
CyrusOne, named to CRN’s 2018 Data Center 100 list, unveiled on Tuesday that it had acquired 8 acres of land to build a new data center that is adjacent to another parcel of land where construction is already underway for a separate data center facility.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for CyrusOne as we set the course for our second data center in the heart of Silicon Valley,” said Kevin Timmons, chief technology officer for CyrusOne in a statement. “With innovative power cogeneration, our new data center will provide low energy costs for our hyperscale customers. Part of our mission at CyrusOne is to help the world’s leading technology companies power this new exciting digital era we all live in. ... In technology, speed is a differentiator, and our track record demonstrates that we build data centers faster than anyone in the world.”

In 2016, the Dallas, Texas-based data center provider was able to construct a 30-megawatt data center in Northern Virginia in less than six months.
The new CyrusOne Santa Clara Data Center campus will deliver over 100 megawatts of capacity and will offer up to 27 megawatts of power capacity to give customers aggressive power pricing over the competitors, said the company.
CyrusOne has been acquiring and building data centers at a blistering pace over the past few years.
In August, CyrusOne completed the acquisition of four Zenium data centers. Additionally, the data center provider bought land last year in Dallas and the Netherlands to build new facilities on. CyrusOne also expects a new site in Frankfurt, Germany to be completed by 2020.
CyrusOne has more than more than 45 facilities in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America. The company has approximately 1,000 customers including more than 200 Fortune 1,000 companies. CyrusOne facilities are engineered to include the power-density infrastructure required to deliver high availability, including an architecture with the highest available power redundancy.
