Dell CTO In EMEA Paul Mackay Departs, Says ‘Time For A New Challenge’
Paul Mackay has left Dell Technologies after helping lead the company’s EMEA strategy as chief technology officer for Dell’s cloud and converged infrastructure business.
Dell Technologies chief technology officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Paul Mackay has left the infrastructure giant after nearly five years.
“Today is my last day [at] Dell Technologies,” wrote Mackay on Friday on Twitter and LinkedIn. “Been a brilliant period of my career and it’s been a pleasure working with so many fantastic colleagues and customers. Time for a new challenge....roll on Monday.”
Mackay was CTO of Cloud Platforms, Converged Infrastructure and Hyper-converged Infrastructure (HCI) Solutions in the EMEA regions for Dell. He was responsible for the company’s primary storage, converged, HCI and multi-cloud offerings for Dell EMC and the broader Dell Technologies in the region.

Mackay will be replaced by Nigel Moulton, Global CTO of Dell’s Modern Data Center Team. “We thank Paul for his service and wish him the best with his future endeavors,” Dell said in a statement to CRN.
Mackay was frequently seen on stage providing keynotes during Dell’s EMEA events and conferences. He worked with Dell’s global leaders to define and execute a strategy both internally and externally in the region. Prior to Dell, Mackay worked at IT service specialist SCC and VMware consultancy expert VMI Consultancy, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The $91 billion Round Rock, Texas-based company has been striving to provide more converged and HCI solutions as well as cloud-like sales models.
Last week, Dell launched its new Dell Technologies On Demand flexible consumption program. The program provides three flexible consumption offerings that channel partners can sell in consumption-based and as-a-service sales models.
On the HCI and converged infrastructure front, Dell recently launched an all-in-one converged autonomous infrastructure dubbed PowerOne. The architecture combines all of Dell EMC’s flagship infrastructure products together with VMware vSphere wrapped in a new built-in, outcome oriented automation engine.
As Mackay departs, Dell has hired cloud visionary Deepak Patil to lead the company’s cloud business. Patil is one of the founding members of Microsoft Azure, spending more than 15 years at Microsoft from 2000 to 2015 in a variety of general manager roles.
