Kaseya’s MSP Security Toolkit Adds Anti-Phishing With Graphus Buy
‘Graphus provides advanced phishing prevention technologies that are purpose built for cloud-based email solutions, which about 99 percent of MSPs use and this is geared at the primary means of MSP vulnerability as well as MSP customer vulnerability, which are phishing attacks through a cloud email platform,’ Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola tells CRNtv.
The need for strong cybersecurity defenses have taken the industry by storm as businesses have nearly 100 percent of their employees working remote.
Kaseya’s recent acquisition of Graphus, an automated phishing defense platform, advances the company’s IT Complete Platform, by providing managed service providers (MSPs) and small to midsize businesses (SMBs) “phishing prevention technologies that are purpose built for cloud-based email solutions,” Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola told CRNtv.
“Which about 99 percent of MSPs use and this is geared at the primary means of MSP vulnerability as well as MSP customer vulnerability, which are phishing attacks through a cloud email platform,” he added.
Especially with an uptick in MSP breaches, acquiring and integrating Graphus to its large-scale security solution suite, Voccola said, offers partners “yet another very powerful, yet very light weight and easy-to-configure solution to protect their own networks and their own employee base as well as offering to their customers a very, very strong, and easy-to-use and administer type of anti-phishing solution.”
Voccola told CRNtv, “customers of the channel, most MSP customers, aren’t the most technically sophisticated,” which is why Kaseya offers security awareness training modules through its channel to better prepare its customers.
Now with the acquisition of Graphus, Kaseya’s MSP security toolbox provides partners “a great belt and suspender implementation device for the few employees of the customers that occasionally might do the wrong thing, giving another line of defense for them,” said Voccola.
It’s Easy As One, Two, Three
Adam Schwam, president of Sandwire -- a Long Island-based MSP specializing in professional services firms from medical, accounting to legal -- told CRNtv, unlike it’s competitors, Kaseya sets partners up for success starting with a quick and easy on board experience, “it’s literally one, two, three.”
“The acquisition is just another step in the process of Kaseya,” said Schwam. “What it’s done is allowed me to utilize their existing products and now not use a third party to help me with phishing solutions and cyberattacks.”
Schwam also noted this isn’t the first step for security for Kaseya.
“They have recently acquired ID Agent and they now have Passly, which [offers] multi-factor authentication (MFA), and they have all these products intertwined together to really make one complete solution,” he added.
Now with the acquisition of Graphus, IT Complete provides partners with a simple, automated, and cost effective email security and phishing defense platform.
And “It’s got that AI that artificial intelligence,” an attractive feature Schwam said. “What it does is it allows the ability to really start recording the habits of individuals, and one the the challenges we’ve always had is that when you get emails you have a trusted list [where] people are forever masking names, [or] you’re getting spoofed.”
“We have payroll companies as clients and what happens is they’re getting emails in to change their payroll to someone else, which has really been a big problem by the way that has been a huge problem,” said Schwam. “So, it’s giving the opportunity to stay one step ahead.”
