Meru Networks Names New CMO
Gustin was previously chief marketing officer and senior vice president at Eastman Kodak, a role he retired from in 2007. He was also a senior vice president of marketing at Digital Equipment Corp. and a corporate senior vice president, worldwide marketing and communications at Apple. In the years since he left Kodak, Gustin has consulted on branding and communications with Delta Airlines, and also been on the board of directors of CSDVRS, LLC.
He comes to Meru at a time where the company's virtualized 802.11n wireless technology has a healthy channel following, and where Meru is looking to sell enterprises on the idea of an all-wireless, mobile edge as the wave of the future.
"We believe we are standing at the beginning of the all-wireless era, and that wireless demand has the ability to exceed anything that we have seen before in technology," said Ihab Abu-Hakima, president and CEO of Meru, in a statement.
Abu-Hakima praised Gustin's "deep and diverse expertise" in branding and marketing as Meru looks to draw attention to its growth story.
"I believe a tectonic shift is underway as businesses increasingly realize that wireless connectivity has gone from being a casual services to one that is absolutely essential -- brought about by the onslaught of mobile devices," Gustin said in a statement.
Ram Appalaraju, who was senior vice president of marketing at Meru for 18 months, left the company earlier this year to become vice president of marketing at Enterasys.
