Cisco Names New Global Services Chief
Gary Moore, Cisco's COO, will continue to head up Cisco's global services team until Aug. 1, at which time Overbeek will transition officially to the new role and report directly to Moore. Moore will focus full time on Cisco's operations, he said in a Tuesday post to Cisco's Platform blog.
"Cisco's leadership bench today already has such a breadth and depth of these capabilities that we remain focused on our internal talent pool to fill leadership roles as they become available," Moore wrote.

Services are a particular area of focus for Cisco this year. At Cisco Partner Summit in San Diego in April, the company debuted its Cisco Partner Services Program in an effort to drive more channel business in what Cisco's described as a $200 billion addressable market.
Overbeek is a 12-year veteran of Cisco and leads the networking titan's Asia business as well as co-chairs its Emerging Countries Council. Cisco's current management structure under Moore, including executives such as Nick Earle, senior vice president, worldwide services sales and channels, and Joe Pinto, senior vice president, technical services, will remain the same under Overbeek.
Cisco did not name Overbeek's replacement to head the APJC region.
"Rob Lloyd, EVP worldwide operations, is committed to having an APJC leader in place by the start of FY13," Moore wrote. "Until that time, Edzard will continue to lead the sales region."
Moore, who was named COO in February 2011, has been in charge of San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco's companywide restructuring effort: a year-plus-long process that's removed more than $1 billion in operating expenses from Cisco's balance sheet and more than 12,000 employees. The current sales management structure, which divides Cisco into three geographies instead of the previous nine theaters, was put in place last summer.
Overbeek's counterpart in the Americas region is Chuck Robbins, senior vice president, The Americas.
