ShoreTel, Harbor Networks Hit Home Run With Red Sox Deal

As the Boston Red Sox season kicks into second gear this July, IT leadership from the franchise has praised the work of its new unified communications solution provider ShoreTel, and ShoreTel’s partner, Harbor Networks.

ShoreTel replaced Avaya as the Red Sox’s IT solution provider last October.

’We had an environment with Avaya that was a bit dated,’ said Red Sox IT vice president, Brian Shield.

’What really kind of impressed us with ShoreTel was the maintenance, to really be able to maintain [our system] with our current staff levels, without having to have experienced telecommunications people,’ Shield said.

Harbor Networks helps support the 700 phones through the various Red Sox training and competition locations.

’The Red Sox enjoy the quality of the phones and [the] sound quality,’ said Paul Pacheco, Operations Director at Harbor Networks.

ShoreTel provides IT and unified communications for four other MLB teams: the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, and Miami Marlins.

’We have a great solution for sports organizations,’ said ShoreTel CEO Don Joos.

Joos has noticed one trend among ShoreTel customers, which also includes the Golden State Warriors basketball team.

’It seems that when companies implement the ShoreTel solution, it does increase their odds of winning a championship,’ Joos joked.

’Of course I expect a championship,’ said Shield.
