Cisco Live 2019: CEO Chuck Robbins Weighs In On The News Partners Need To Know

On the 30th anniversary of Cisco Live, Cisco unveils new innovation around software and collaboration, which Presidio’s Vinu Thomas describes as a “paradigm shift” in networking.

Nearly 30,000 partners, customers and analysts made their way to sunny San Diego this week for Cisco’s biggest show of the year. Here’s a look at some of the top headlines from Cisco Live:

A Smarter Network

Cisco added machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities to its Cisco DNA corporate networking software. The software enhancements push to add more visibility and insights across the entire network. In CRN’s video, Vinu Thomas from Presidio, an IT solutions provider headquartered in NYC, said the announcements represent a paradigm shift in networking.

The First DevNet Certification

Cisco’s program developer community DevNet now has over 600,000 users. At Cisco Live, executives unveiled Cisco’s first DevNet certification and training program, a first-of-its kind certification that software developers can use to demonstrate programmability expertise and software skills. The new courses are rolling out this month and exams will available in February 2020.

DevNet Automation Exchange

The DevNet Automation Exchange is a new community that can be tapped by developers, end users and channel partners and provides shared code that can solve specific network automation use cases. The code is developed by the DevNet community and is curated by Cisco on an ongoing basis. Cisco CEO and Chairman Chuck Robbins told CRN that The Exchange is a way for Cisco to to build muscle with partners to deliver services and an experience with customers holistically.

Collaboration

In March, Cisco introduced its AI-driven People Insights platform for Webex Meetings, which acts as your own personal executive assistant. At Cisco Live, the company expanded People Insights across WebEx and Jabber, Cisco’s platform for communicating via video, instant messaging, voice, and conferencing.
