Long-Term EMC Executive Appointed VCE President

People familiar with the news of the appointment said that Hauck, a 20-year EMC veteran, will report to Michael Capellas, chairman and CEO of VCE.

EMC, Cisco, and VMware in November of 2009 unveiled VCE and Vblock Infrastructure Packages, a series of pre-configured, pre-tested storage solutions based on EMC’s Symmetrix or Clariion storage arrays, Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) and networking switches, and VMware's vSphere server and cloud virtualization platform.

As president of VCE, Hauck will focus on such areas as customer service, new product delivery, and adoption of new technologies, the sources said.

Hauck's move to VCE is a significant step in the growth and future development of VCE. The company started in November of 2009 with 80 employees, but now numbers about 800 employees worldwide. In his 20 years at EMC, Hauck has focused on business operations, and has run various parts of that company's sales, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing initiatives.

Many of VCE's employees transferred from EMC, Cisco, and VMware, including Pete Koliopoulos, who before joining VCE a year ago as vice president of channel marketing was EMC's vice president of global channel marketing.

EMC is not naming a replacement for Hauck. Instead, most of Hauck's responsibilities will be spread throughout the company's Information Infrastructure Products group, headed by Pat Gelsinger, EMC president and COO, the sources said.
