Former Microsoft Cloud Executive Takes EMC Post
Srivastava is now president of EMC's Advanced Storage Division, an EMC spokesman confirmed Monday. Reports of Srivastava's new job began to circulate after he posted the information on his LinkedIn profile.
Srivastava had worked at Microsoft since 1997. As head of the combined server and cloud organization, Srivastava played a central role in development of the Windows Azure cloud-computing platform that launched in early 2010.
His departure in March came shortly after CEO Steve Ballmer shook up the company's Server and Tools Business, pushing out STB president Bob Muglia and naming Satya Nedalla to that post.
EMC is a majority owner of VMware, a Microsoft rival in the competitive virtualization technology market. Former Microsoft executive Paul Maritz is president and CEO of VMware.
