NetApp Has Brought Data Fabric To Life For Customers

NetApp’s Data Fabric has evolved from a vision to a full solution portfolio that is now driving big benefits for customers, NetApp’s Director of Technology and Strategy Matt Watts told CRNtv.

“Think of how many threads that we have built that are now bringing this to life for our customers: Azure NetApp Files, Cloud Volumes Service, Cloud Volumes ONTAP, our NetApp Kubernetes Service,” said Watts. “Suddenly this whole portfolio of technologies is coming together which really is enabling our customers to bring their data fabrics to life.”

Customers realize that NetApp’s Data Fabric is a path to follow through on a “cloud first” strategy, said Watts. “What we are now starting to see is that people are recognizing that a data fabric can be the underpinning strategy that will allow them to go cloud first where it makes sense,” he said.

The Data Fabric strategy has come a long way from five years ago when NetApp CEO George Kurian introduced the original NetApp Data Fabric offering, said Watts, a 14-year NetApp veteran who was at the NetApp Insight conference when Data Fabric was originally rolled out.

“It’s fair to say back then it was a great vision, a great strategy,” he said. “It gave us direction as to where we needed to go as a company, what we needed to develop, the kind of solutions that we thought customers needed. Roll forward five years and here we are back at NetApp Insight again [with a full solution portfolio].”

Suzanne Gallagher, vice president of cloud and data center transformation for Insight Enterprises, No. 14 on the CRN Solution Provider 500, said the latest technology releases of NetApp’s Data Fabric are paying off in big digital transformation benefits for Insight’s customers.

“The transformation has continued for our clients in IT taking advantage of digital transformation, really having modern platforms that deliver a cloud-like experience for clients is what we are trying to get to, and it really is now with this latest release coming to life for NetApp,” said Gallagher.
