“We’re building a hybrid future because that’s what customers want. Sometimes the work will be on the cloud. Sometimes the workload will be on-premise. We have built this unique hybrid computing platform and that’s what I’m excited about and I think that’s why cloud customers, if you would, and the cloud partners say, no this is really a bilateral relationship that’s fusing our technologies and products together in a way that customers get extraordinary benefit from,” said Gelsinger.
And, when it comes down to VMware’s hottest element in its product portfolio, Gelsinger didn’t hesitate to name VeloCloud.
“It almost feels like the early days of virtualization,” Gelsinger said of SD-WAN. In December 2017, VMware acquired VeloCloud, a provider of cloud-delivered SD-WAN. The company describes it as a key element in its vision of extending cloud and virtualization capabilities to the edge and IoT.
