It's that time of year again when Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology partners flock to Las Vegas, armed with new products, services, features and functionality all meant to make working with AWS easier for consulting partners and customers alike. 2018 didn't disappoint as vendors showed off their latest solutions and expanded partnerships with the Seattle-based cloud giant.
Here are ten brand-new products, services, and partnerships announced this month during AWS re:Invent 2018.
Apstra Unveils Intent-Based Networking Features On OS
Apstra, a data center automation company, unleashed several new enhancements to its Apstra Operating System (OS), including new intent-based analytics features, VMware vSphere integration, and SONiC support and Junos OS support.
The Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider said that is now able to offer root cause identification for intent-based networking and support for live in-network blueprint implementation updates. Intent-based data center automation lets businesses create a data center that increases application reliability and availability, while simplifying deployments and reducing costs.
Attunity Launches Data Pipeline Solution for Data Lakes On AWS
Data integration and management provider Attunity this week expanded their relationship with AWS with the release of Attunity for Amazon Data Lakes, a solution for automating streaming data pipelines on AWS.
The latest offering will help enterprises quickly automate their data from enterprise databases, mainframes, and applications such as SAP, in real-time for better and more timely analytics, according to the Burlington, Mass.-based provider.
Cohesity Intros New Backup, DR, Data Retention Solutions
Enterprise storage provider Cohesity revealed a series of new solutions powered by AWS this week. Its new services will empower AWS customers to bring together cloud-native backups, full lifecycle disaster recovery, and long-term data retention, all from one platform. Cohesity's solutions use Amazon Elastic Block Store snapshot APIs to protect cloud-native virtual machines (VMs).
Customers using Cohesity and AWS Tripled in Second Half of Cohesity’s Fiscal Year, according to the San Jose, Calif.-based company.
Fortinet Joins AWS Consulting Partner Private Offer Program
Security provider Fortinet joined the recently announced AWS Consulting Partner Private Offer Program.
AWS in October revealed their new AWS Consulting Partner Private Offer Program at The Channel Company's IT Best of Breed 2018 show, which lets customers purchase AWS Marketplace software solutions for their cloud platform directly from authorized Consulting Partners. Now a part of the program, Fortinet's customers can continue to work with their trusted partner that has knowledge of their business and AWS environments.
Fugue Rolls Out Risk Manager
Cloud and compliance automation provider Fugue revealed a brand-new software-as-a-service offering at AWS re:Invent, Fugue Risk Manager.
Fugue Risk Manager can be used by enterprises to scan their cloud environments, including AWS, to identify compliance violations for regulations such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and automatically remediate unauthorized infrastructure changes. The solution can also generate compliance reports, the Frederick, MD-based company explained.
Jabra Partners With AWS For Contact Center Solutions
Communications equipment maker Jabra announced that it has teamed up with Amazon to offer an integrated hardware and software contact center solution.
Customers using Amazon Connect, the company's cloud-based contact center service, can look forward to less noise and interruption by using Jabra Engage 50 headsets and their features from the Amazon Connect platform. Features include live feedback to help better manage calls, as well as the ability to merge and analyze data collected from the headsets and Amazon Connect into one platform to improve the end customer experience. usability of the data and better adjust the contact center experience for both agents and customers.
Mobileye Picks AWS As Its Preferred Cloud Provider
Autonomous driving company Mobileye has selected AWS as its preferred public cloud provider. The company is relying on AWS for its compute, storage, database, analytics, machine learning and edge computing needs.
The company also announced its plans to build a data lake on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) to ingest, process and analyze hundreds of petabytes of vehicle data gathered from sensors, images and video feeds.
Orkus Unveils Cloud Access/Governance Platform
Cloud security startup Orkus joined the AWS marketplace this week as it launched its Orkus Access Governance Platform. The platform, injected with AI, lessens the risk that enterprises face when migrating to the cloud.
Specifically, legacy access and authorization methods can often break down during a cloud migration, which can lead to the risk of unauthorized access to infrastructure, data and privileged identities to spike. The Orkus Platform lets AWS customers and their partners prevent unauthorized or unnecessary access and continuously protect data being stored in AWS, the San Jose, Calif.-based company said.
ParkMyCloud Reveals 'Rightsizing' Feature For Increased Cloud Cost Savings
ParkMyCloud, a provider of cloud cost optimization solutions, rolled out a new feature to its optimization platform aimed at "rightsizing" a customer's cloud environment, including across AWS environments.
Rightsizing, according to the company, offers a way to reduce cloud spend by resizing cloud resources. For example, moving a virtual machine down one size tier can result in savings close to 75 percent or higher. The latest rightsizing feature compliments the company's “parking” functionality, which can automatically schedule non-production cloud resources, such as those used for development, testing, staging, and QA, and turn off these resources when not in use.
Software AG Rolls Out New Low Code Apps
Software AG, an enterprise software company with a robust partnership with AWS, took to re:Invent to announce the availability of new low code apps, which will let business users get more value out of their IoT deployments.
The new functionality extends the ability of Software AG's Cumulocity IoT platform, the provider said. Using webMethods Dynamic Apps, businesses have a low-code app creation platform with design tools that lets them visually configure and use Cumulocity IoT data sources in their low-code apps. The data generated from these apps lets businesses make better, more actionable decisions, the company said.
