Nutanix’s New Portfolio: 5 Cloud, Storage, EUC And Database Offers
Nutanix has revamped its entire product portfolio. Here are Nutanix’s new five offerings that all channel partners and customers need to know.
Welcome To Nutanix’s New Product Portfolio
Nutanix has revamped its entire software portfolio—simplifying 15 different products and brands into just five new offerings.
“Nutanix has been at war with complexity, and obsessed with simplicity,” said Nutanix’s Christian Alvarez, senior vice president of worldwide channel sales.
“We’ve put some of the brightest men and women together with a single mission: to streamline and simplify our offerings in our portfolio. After a considerable amount of work and time, with tons of anticipation, I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce to the world the availability of our new and exciting streamlined portfolio, with simplified packaging, metering and pricing,” Alvarez told CRN. “The company has built an enterprise-ready, unified cloud platform on HCI solutions as the core foundation.”
The San Jose, Calif.-based hyperconverged infrastructure software star has aligned its new portfolio to customer requirements in the multi-cloud and hybrid cloud world. With the launch of its new portfolio, Nutanix is enabling core-based pricing and metering to give channel partners and customers more flexibility around cost control.
CRN breaks down Nutanix’s brand new portfolio of five offers that are now available for channel partners to sell.
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure
The new Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) provides a complete software solution including virtual compute, storage and networking for virtual machines and containers. NCI can be deployed in private data centers on the hardware of a customers’ choice or in public clouds with built-in resilience, self-healing, performance, disaster recovery capabilities, and security.
“Customers want choice. Partners want choice. We’re giving it to both of them here,” said Nutanix’s Alvarez.
Alvarez said running NCI on public cloud, Nutanix Cloud Clusters enables customers to accelerate their journey to hybrid cloud for agility, elasticity, and application modernization while maintaining the operational efficiency of a unified cloud environment with common management and policies across clouds.
Key use cases for Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure include cloud bursting, disaster recovery, and data center lift and shift.
Nutanix Cloud Manager
The new Nutanix Cloud Manager aims to bring ease of use to building and managing cloud deployments by driving consistent governance across private and public clouds.
Nutanix’s Cloud Manager delivers intelligent operations including monitoring, insights, and automated remediation making it easier for enterprises to deploy, operate, and manage their applications. It also drives financial accountability and cost governance with intelligent resource optimization, and accurate visibility into cloud metering and chargeback.
“This provides intelligence in operating, automation and remediation, and cost governance—all critical things that customers are demanding—with self-service, and unified security operations for their workloads,” said Alvarez. “Security is top of mind for everyone.”
The Nutanix Cloud Manager unifies security operations for workloads and data across clouds, automating incident response with intelligent analysis and regulatory compliance.
Nutanix End User Computing Solutions
Nutanix’s new End User Computing Solutions offering provides virtual applications and desktops to users worldwide from public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
The solution provides a per-user licensing option for the Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure that simplifies capacity planning by matching the infrastructure cost model to that of the end user computing platform.
“This category provides infrastructure for virtual desktop as a service, files as a service, metered on a per user basis. Just think about that for a second. We’re now going to be able to offer metering on a per user basis with our end user computing,” said Alvarez. “This is just awesome stuff.”
Nutanix End User Computing Solutions also include a simple and flexible Desktop-as-a-Service platform that can run end user workloads on Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, public clouds or on hybrid clouds.
Nutanix Unified Storage
The new Nutanix Unified Storage offers distributed and software-defined storage for multiple protocols such as volumes, files, objects, to support a workloads deployed anywhere, with license portability in between.
With Nutanix Unified Storage, a single point of management for all storage resources eliminates complexity of multiple interfaces and enables non-storage IT experts to handle most day-to-day storage and data management tasks. Intelligent analytics integrated into the solution provide data visibility and deep insights for governance and security of data.
“This provides a distributed software-defined storage for workloads requiring block, files, object services. This includes advanced analytics for automation. These are absolutely critical things that customers and partners have been demanding,” said Alvarez.
Nutanix Database Service
Nutanix’s new Database Service simplifies database management across hybrid and multi-cloud environments for database engines including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Database. The Nutanix Database Service has powerful automation for provisioning, scaling, patching, protection, and cloning of database instances.
“Our managed service providers love this solution. This provides simplified management for the leading database engines in the market of today,” said Nutanix’s Alvarez. “It’s able to provide automation and provisioning at scale—patching, protecting, and cloning databases instances—this is a huge, huge advantage over many other companies.”
Additionally, the new offering helps customers deliver Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) and a self-service database experience on-premises or in the public cloud to developers for both new and existing databases.
“We’ve been focused on building this new foundation, which has allowed us now to remove a lot of the friction and truly accelerate our time to innovation,” said Alvarez. “We’re super excited about our future with our partners and what we’re going to be doing in the coming years with them.”
