10 Must-See PC Monitors At CES 2021

This year’s CES has seen a number of debuts of monitors for working from home and gaming from vendors including HP, Dell, Lenovo and Acer.

It wasn’t long ago that PC monitors were a ho-hum category that was seeing little activity from vendors. But no more. With dynamics such as the continuation of widespread working from home and the boom in gaming, vendors have begun to roll out a wide array of new monitors—including numerous new work-from-home and gaming monitors at CES 2021. Vendors at the all-digital show with cool new monitors include HP, Dell, Lenovo, LG, Acer, Asus, ViewSonic and MSI. Key features of many of the monitors include curved and high-resolution displays, USB-C connectivity and capabilities aimed at enhancing collaboration.

What follows are 10 must-see PC monitors at CES 2021.

HP E24u G4 and E27u G4 USB-C Monitors

With monitors seeing a fresh wave of demand amid the work-from-home boom, HP is rolling out two new displays focused on meeting the needs of business users. The HP E24u G4 and E27u G4 USB-C Monitors include features such as a single power button for waking or sleeping both the monitor and laptop (even when the laptop is closed). Other features include the ability to power a laptop using the monitor’s USB-C connectivity—which also enables the use of fewer cables—as well as the ability to daisy-chain a second monitor. The monitors include four-way adjustability and HP’s Eye Ease reduced blue light technology, and come in two sizes and resolution options—23.8 inches for the E24u G4 with FHD resolution and 27 inches for the E27u G4 with QHD resolution.

Dell 34 Curved Videoconferencing Monitor C3422WE

At CES 2021, Dell is debuting a new series of monitors aimed at improved videoconferencing, including the Dell 34 Curved Videoconferencing Monitor. The 34-inch WQHD curved monitor is geared toward use with Microsoft Teams and features a dedicated button for joining Teams meetings, as well as other collaboration-friendly capabilities such as a pop-up 5-megapixel IR camera, dual 5W integrated speakers and noise-canceling microphones. In addition, Dell is unveiling two other curved videoconferencing monitors in this series, offering 24-inch and 27-inch display sizes.

Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved WUHD Monitor U4021QW

For even greater display space, the forthcoming Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved WUHD Monitor will offer a 40-inch display with a 2500R curve and resolution that goes beyond 4K (5,120 x 2,160). The screen also reduces blue light with Dell’s ComfortView Plus technology and offers up to 300 nits of brightness. Key features of the new UltraSharp 40 Curved monitor include the ability to connect two PCs to the monitor at a time, allowing users to switch between the two PCs or work on both simultaneously, as well as integrated dual 9W speakers.

Acer Nitro XV282K KV

Acer has some good news for gamers at CES 2021 with the launch of its Nitro XV282K KV gaming monitor. The 28-inch monitor offers 4K/UHD resolution and an ultrasharp 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as offering a 144Hz refresh rate and 1-millisecond response time through the use of AMD FreeSync Premium technology. Notably, the Nitro XV282K KV is the first gaming monitor from Acer to include HDMI 2.1 connectivity, which will support 4K gaming at 120Hz with a variable refresh rate while using consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Other key features on the display include technologies aimed at reducing eyestrain, such as with reduced blue light.

ViewSonic Videoconferencing Monitor VG2440V

ViewSonic is looking at the burgeoning work-from-home market with its new VG2440V, a 24-inch flat-panel display with a built-in 2-megapixel camera. The VG2440V is targeted at collaboration and videoconferencing, with the integrated video camera offering 5-degree adjustability to find the ideal angle for the user. The camera also includes a privacy shutter, while the display itself measures 23.8 inches and features FHD resolution. In addition, the monitor includes DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA port connectivity.

LG UltraWide 40WP95C

LG used CES 2021 to introduce its LG UltraWide monitor 40WP95C, featuring a 40-inch curved IPS display with 5,120 x 2,160 resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The monitor is targeted at digital content creators and developers, as well as any users that are big on multitasking. The monitor supports HDR 10 as well as offering a 72Hz refresh rate, 5-millisecond response time and Thunderbolt connectivity.

Lenovo L27e-30

Lenovo introduced its new Lenovo L27e-30 display featuring IPS technology. The Lenovo L27e-30’s graphite gray stand offers hidden cable management features and an integrated smartphone holder connected to a near-edgeless bevel with a thickness of 7.1 mm. The display itself features FHD resolution, a 75MHz refresh rate and the AMD FreeSync technology. The on-screen display settings can be set via the Lenovo Artery software platform.

Asus ProArt Display PA148CTV

The Asus ProArt Display PA148CTV is a 14-inch FHD IPS portable monitor aimed at providing greater workflow efficiency for content creators. The display features a Virtual Control Panel that offers shortcuts and programmable hotkeys, making it easier to use Adobe creative tools such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere and Lightroom Classic. The monitor also includes the Asus Dial, which is a physical dial on the rear of the display to let users control compatible Adobe software and leverage Microsoft Surface Dial features while keeping focused on their current task. The monitor also comes with a leather sleeve and has two USB-C ports, a micro HDMI port and a tripod socket.

MSI MPG ARTYMIS 343CQR

MSI used CES 2021 to introduce its new MSI MPG ARTYMIS 343CQR 34-inch curved gaming monitor that features UWQHD (3,440 x 1,440) resolution, a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 165Hz refresh rate and a 1-millisecond response time. Smart features of the MSI 343CQR include Adaptive Brightness 2.0, NightVision AI and Smart RGB. Adaptive Brightness proactively tracks the ambient light to automatically set the monitor’s brightness to reduce eyestrain, while NightVision AI continuously monitors the game and automatically adjusts brightness.
