CES 2018: 5 Cool Dell PCs That Just Launched
Dell's Busy Start To 2018
At CES 2018, Dell is kicking off a new year of product launches with some major additions to its PC lineup, including the first-ever 2-in-1 version of the XPS 15. Dell is also unveiling refreshed Latitude 7000 Series laptops, along with new Latitude 5000 models, Latitude 2-in-1s, and a new Inspiron gaming desktop.
In the following slides, we've rounded up what you need to know about Dell's new PCs at CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
Dell XPS 15 2-in-1
One year after Dell introduced a convertible model for the XPS 13, the company is launching the first 2-in-1 version of the XPS 15, in connection with CES 2018. Along with its 360-degree hinge for folding the 15.6-inch display, the laptop offers differences including a form factor that is 5 percent thinner (0.63 of an inch thick). Dell says that makes the convertible XPS 15 the thinnest 15-inch 2-in-1 on the market. Even with that thin profile, Dell has managed to include quad-core Intel CPU options (eighth-gen Core i5-8305G or Core i7-8705G) that are integrated with discrete AMD graphics (Radeon RX Vega M GL) -- one of the first deployments of a processor integrating Intel CPUs and AMD GPUs. For the display, the XPS 15 2-in-1 comes with options for UHD (3,200 x 1,800) or FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, with brightness of 400 nits. In addition, the XPS 15 2-in-1 offers up to 15 hours of battery life and features GORE Thermal Insulation, which works to remove heat more effectively in order to support improved performance.
The Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 will be available in the spring with a starting price of $1,299.99.
Dell Latitude 7000 Series Laptops
Dell is using CES 2018 to launch a new lineup of Latitude 7000 Series business laptops, including the Latitude 7490 (pictured). This 14-inch laptop features a "super low-power display" for enabling longer battery life -- up to 20 hours on a charge -- along with processor options including a quad-core eighth-gen Intel Core i7. Other new 7000 Series models are the 12.5-inch Latitude 7290 and the 13.3-inch Latitude 7390, both of which weigh about 2.6 pounds and also offer quad-core eighth-gen Intel processors. Notably, all of the new 7000 Series Latitudes come with Microsoft's Precision Touchpad, which should improve touchpad responsiveness over previous Latitude models. In addition, both the Latitude 7490 and 7390 models feature an FHD touch display option, with brightness of 300 nits.
The Dell Latitude 7490 and Latitude 7290 have a starting price of $1,049, while the Latitude 7390 starts at $1,149. The new Dell Latitude 7000 Series laptops are available Jan. 9.
Dell Latitude 5000 Series Laptops
For the lower-priced Latitude 5000 Series business laptops, Dell is offering quad-core eighth-gen Intel processors as well as optional Nvidia GeForce graphics for the new Latitude 5490 (pictured) and Latitude 5590. Dell is also offering FHD touch display options for the 14-inch Latitude 5490 and 15.6-inch Latitude 5590, while the 12.5-inch Latitude 5290 comes with an HD non-touch display. For the Latitude 5490, Dell is promising up to 22 hours of battery life and two options for supporting USB-C connectivity (DisplayPort and the Dell Business Dock).
The Dell Latitude 5490 and Latitude 5590 both have a starting price of $779, while the Latitude 5290 starts at $829. The new Dell Latitude 5000 Series laptops are available Jan. 9.
Dell Latitude 2-in-1s
Dell is also using CES 2018 to debut a pair of 2-in-1 Latitude models. Those are the Latitude 5290 (pictured), which is a 12.3-inch Windows 10 tablet with a detachable keyboard, and the Latitude 7390, a 2-in-1 laptop with a 13.3-inch display (its keyboard is not detachable). The Latitude 5290 2-in-1 tablet weighs just 2.64 pounds with its keyboard, offers up to quad-core eighth-gen Intel Core i7 processors, and has both USB-C and USB-A ports. The tablet also includes a highly adjustable kickstand. For the Latitude 7390 2-in-1 laptop, Dell is offering quad-core eighth-gen Intel Core processors, battery life of up to 17 hours, and, of course, a convertible touch-screen display. Both of the new Latitude 2-in-1s feature 1,920 x 1,280 display resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 for durability.
The Latitude 7390 has a starting price of $1,149 and the Latitude 5290 starts at $779. Both are available Jan. 9.
Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop 5680
Dell isn't neglecting its gaming PC side at CES 2018, with the company introducting the new Inspiron Gaming Desktop 5680. The tower PC features up to six-core eighth-gen Intel Core CPUs, discrete Nvidia GeForce graphics (up to GTX 1070), and up to 64 GB of RAM -- ultimately making the Inspiron Gaming Desktop 5680 a VR-ready machine with rapid responsiveness.
The Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop 5680 has a starting price of $749 and is available Jan. 9.
