Golden State Warrior superfan Marc Benioff attended game three of the NBA Finals on Wednesday alongside the likes of many celebrities including rock-star Lars Ulrich, the drummer of Metallica. In this tweet, Salesforce CEO Benioff pits Metallica drummer against fellow music star Drake. The rapper has become notorious for his on-court antics during NBA games as an avid Toronto Raptors fan. Benioff tweeted several photos with other celebrities during the game including Japanese musician Yoshiki Hayashi.
Salesforce recently made headlines of its own after grappling with the worst service disruption outage in the company’s history. The outage caused sales agents and marketers around the world to lose access to Salesforce Marketing Cloud for several hours.

Jim Kavanaugh is a diehard St. Louis Blues fan who regularly attends NHL games to cheer on the hockey team. With the Blues squaring off against the Boston Bruins in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, World Wide Technology held a large Blues rally this week as seen in Kavanaugh’s tweet with surprise guests including Chris Zimmerman, President and CEO of Business Operations for the Blues, and Blues TV play-by-play announcer John Kelly. World Wide Technology (WWT) is headquartered in St. Louis.
Prior to being the CEO of solution provider powerhouse WWT, ranked No. 8 on CRN’s 2019 Solution Provider 500 list, Kavanaugh himself was a soccer star. He competed for the United States in the Pan Am Games as a member of the 1984 Olympic team. Kavanaugh also did a short stint for the Major Indoor Soccer League before turning his attention to the IT world.

VMware’s colorful CEO is a very active member of Twitter, constantly tweeting impressive photos from around the globe on a variety of topics from social issues to IT. This week, Pat Gelsinger met with Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri to discuss the country’s digital future. A busy worldwide traveler, Gelsinger also traveled to Costa Rica this week to meet with hundreds of employees to discuss VMware’s strategy.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based VMware made headlines last week as the company posted strong first fiscal quarter results of $2.27 billion in revenue, up 13 percent year over year, beating Wall Street expectations. The company reported a 35 percent spike year over year in its hybrid cloud Software-as-a-Service business.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere
Another colorful CEO that is highly active on Twitter is John Legere, who tweeted several times about his birthday party in Maui this week. The T-Mobile CEO had a fun day in the sun filled with local Hawaiian entertainment. Legere was in Maui celebrating not only his birthday, but the company’s Peak 2019 Award winners, which is a special designation for outstanding employees of all levels throughout T-Mobile. The winners received a five-day all-expenses paid trip to the Hawaiian island.
On the news front, T-Mobile and Sprint, the third and fourth largest wireless carriers in the county, are trying to push through their latest $26.5 billion merger attempt. Last month, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission Ajit Pai said he will recommend the merger.

Tim Cook took the time on June 4 to walk through a war memorial to honor the 150,000 “brave souls” who stormed the beaches of Normandy 75 years ago. On June 6, 1944, the Western Allies of World Word II launched the largest amphibious invasion in history when they assaulted the beaches of Normandy in France, known as D-Day. Thousands of soldiers from the U.S., Britain, Canada and France died during the operation. The tweet from Apple’s CEO commemorating the anniversary received more than 13,000 likes on Twitter and 1,400 retweets.
The $265 billion technology giant this week hosted Apple’s annual WWDC 2019 event that included the surprise reveal of a new version of the Mac Pro desktop as well as the debut of an iPad-specific operating system, dubbed iPadOs.
