Here are the top 50 technology employers who are hiring the most during COVID-19 that channel partners should know about including Amazon, Dell, Oracle as well as solution providers Capgemini, CDW and Wipro, according to Dice’s new Tech Job Report.

Top 50 IT Employers During Q2 2020

The impacts of COVID-19 in the technology hiring and job market are on full display for the first time in Dice’s new Tech Job Report: Hiring Trends in the Time of COVID-19.

“Halfway through the year, the data suggests that, although the pandemic is far from over, companies are in a far better position to engage in long-term planning with a clear need for vital technologists,” said Dice in its second quarter 2020 report. “While employers in several industries -- including manufacturing, automotive, tourism and more -- experienced the effects early on, other industries, such as food and consumer goods, were immediately required to ensure their digital infrastructure and user experience were capable of meeting increased online demand.”

Interestingly, many of the top employers included in Dice’s Tech Job Report during the second quarter were large channel partners such as Capgemini, CGI, CDW, SAIC and Wipro, while several IT vendors like Infosys and Dell Technologies cracked into the top ten.

CRN highlights the top technology companies that are most relevant to channel partners. Here‘s a sampling of the top 50 tech companies that employed the most people in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2020.

No. 44 Top Tech Employer: NTT Data

NTT Data is one of the top global IT services providers, operating in more than 50 countries. The Japan-based company with more than 20 offices across the U.S., was ranked No. 44 on Dice’s list of top IT employers during the second quarter.

The company has expanded into the U.S. healthcare market with last year’s acquisition of Virginia-based Cognosante Consulting, while continuing to expand its data center presence globally. NTT Data Services ranks No. 7 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500 list.

The tail end of the top 50 tech employers in the second quarter ranked No. 45 through No. 50 were Aetna Incorporated, Mitsubishi, Tetra Tech, NCI Information Systems, Disney and CRGT, respectively.

No. 43 Top Tech Employer: ServiceNow

ServiceNow expects strong sales throughout 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic and delivered solid results during its first fiscal quarter with sales up 33 percent year over year at $1.04 billion. With subscription revenue projected to reach $1 billion for its current second fiscal quarter, ServiceNow ranked No. 43 in Dice’s top technology employer during the second.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company has approximately 12,000 employees. Shortly after COVID-19 hit the U.S., ServiceNow deployed four emergency apps for free to 1,100 organizations to help customers navigate the pandemic.

No. 40 Top Tech Employer: Virtusa Corp

The Southborough, Mass.-based solution provider specializes in services around data analytics, consulting, security and crisis management, serving global 200 companies in financing, healthcare, communications, media, travel and manufacturing. Virtusa ranks No. 38 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500 list as is one of AWS’ top Consulting Partners.

Virtusa ranked No. 40 in Dice’s list of top IT employers during the second quarter. Last week, the company reported $301 million in first quarter fiscal sales, down 5 percent year over year.

After Virtusa, the top tech employers in the second quarter ranked No. 41 and No. 42 were Centene Corp and JLL, respectively.

No. 38 Top Tech Employer: Wipro

The India-based global systems integrator and IT services giant has more than 20 offices across the U.S. from New York City and Washington D.C. to Seattle and Silicon Valley. Wipro, who ranks No. 13 on CRN’s Solution Provider 500 list, has over 180,000 employees worldwide with annual revenues of roughly $9 billion.

In May, Wipro appointed Capgemini’s former chief operating officer, Thierry Delaporte, as its new CEO. The solution provider is starting to recruit enterprise-focused channel partners in the U.S. to expand the reach of its products, services and IP.

After Wipro, the top tech employer in the second quarter ranked No. 39 was The Bank of New York Mellon.

No. 37 Top Tech Employer: Capgemini

Channel partner giant Capgemini is a global leader in consulting, digital transformation and engineering services with 270,00 employees worldwide in nearly 50 countries. The Paris-based solution provider ranks No. 8 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500 list as well as No. 37 on Dice’s list of top employers during the second quarter.

In one of the largest channel acquisitions in years, Capgemini acquired Altran, a leading provider of engineering and R&D services, last year in a deal worth $4.1 billion. The deal boosted Capgemini’s digital transformation services capabilities and market reach.

No. 36 Top Tech Employer: CGI

The $12.1 billion global solution provider specializes in end-to-end services and solutions, including consulting, systems integration, intellectual property and managed services. Founded in 1976, the company ranks No. 12 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500 list with a total of 78,000 employees.

Montreal-based CGI ranked No. 36 in terms of the largest IT employer during the second quarter. In July, the company reported $3.05 billion in revenue, down 2 percent year over year, for its third fiscal quarter with net earnings of $261 million.

No. 32 Top Tech Employer: Google

The search engine and public cloud giant was the thirty-second top employer during the second quarter with a market cap of $1 trillion. As Google continues to construct massive new data centers, cloud revenues have now hit a $12 billion run rate as its stock nears $1,500 per share.

Last month, Google said most employees can work from home through the Summer of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the end of 2019, the Mountain View, Calif.-based company employed a total of 119,000 workers.

After Google, the top tech employers in the second quarter ranked No. 33 through No. 35 were Digital Management Inc., BB&T Corp and U.S. Bancorp, respectively.

No. 28 Top Tech Employer: CDW Corp

Ranked No. 5 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500 list, CDW generates net sales of over $18 billion with more than 10,000 employees. The channel partner services powerhouse focused on government, education and the healthcare industries with 26 locations worldwide along with 250,000 customers.

The Vernon Hills, Ill.-based solution provider ranked No. 28 on Dice’s largest employer list during the second quarter. Last year, Vernon Hills, Ill.-based CDW acquired IT service management and ServiceNow elite channel partner Aptris.

After CDW, the top tech employers in the second quarter ranked No. 29 through No. 31 were Datafox, Tusimple and Grant Thornton, respectively.

No. 27 Top Tech Employer: IBM

IBM CEO Arvind Krishna recently told investors that COVID-19 creates immediate challenges as well as long-term opportunities, including around digital transformation. Although total revenues fell 5 percent to $18.1 billion in its recent second quarter, IBM cloud sales jumped 30 percent to $6.3 billion.

The Armonk, New York-based company was the twenty-seventh biggest technology employer during the second quarter. IBM employs roughly 384,000 people on a global basis. The company recently introduced new storage hardware and software tailored toward artificial intelligence and analytics workloads.

No. 25 Top Tech Employer: Facebook

The social media giant ranked No. 25 in terms of the largest employer during the second quarter with more than 48,000 employees working at the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company. Facebook is one of the largest data center builders in the world, spending billions each year on constructing and equipping hyperscale data centers, although COVID-19 has forced some hiccups in Facebook’s plans.

With the rapid rise of videoconferencing and VDI stemming from COVID-19, Facebook rolled out free video calling for up to 50 people through its Facebook and Facebook Messenger applications.

After Facebook, the top tech employer in the second quarter ranked No. 26 was Capital One.

No. 19 Top Tech Employer: SAIC

The Fortune 500 solution provider is a one of the world’s top technology systems integrators with around 25,500 employees around the world. In June, Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) won a $2.9 billion contract to continue mission engineering, integration, software development and other support to the U.S. Army.

The Reston, Va.-based company was the ninetieth largest IT employer during the second quarter. In a blockbuster move this year, SAIC acquired Unisys’ federal business valued at well over $1 billion.

After SAIC, the top tech employers in the second quarter ranking No. 20 through No. 24 were Blue Origin, Carbon 12 Labs, Health Care Service Corp. and Time Warner, respectively.

No. 18 Top Tech Employer: Nvidia

The rapidly growing chipmaker has spent billions on acquiring industry standouts like Mellanox and Cumulus Networks to branch out into new markets and massively expand its product portfolio. As the company expands, Nvidia was ranked No. 18 in terms of the largest IT employer during the second quarter.

Last week, CRN reported that Nvidia is the only serious player looking to acquire British chip designer Arm, a deal that could be finalized in the next few weeks. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company employees approximately 14,00 people as of last year.

No. 15 Top Tech Employer: Booz Allen Hamilton

Booz Allen Hamilton is one of the largest consulting firms in the with a focus on government with expertise around digital transformation, analytics and cybersecurity. The McLean, Va.-based solution provider was recently named Nvidia’s Global Consulting Partner of the Year after providing the U.S. federal government with artificial intelligence consultation services.

Booz Allen Hamilton was the fifteen biggest IT employer during the second quarter with approximately 27,200 people global employees.

After Booz Allen Hamilton, the top tech employers in the second quarter who ranked No. 16 and No. 17 were Target and Boeing.

No. 14 Top Tech Employer: T-Mobile

The Bellevue, Wash.-based communications service provider was the fourteenth largest IT employer during the second quarter of 2020. T-Mobile has approximately 53,000 employees with annual revenues of $45 billion, only trailing behind AT&T and Verizon in the U.S. telecommunications market.

In one of the largest telecom acquisitions in history, T-Mobile officially closed its merger with fellow service provider Sprint in April to form “the New T-Mobile.” The $26.5 billion merger saw T-Mobile’s outspoken CEO John Legere pass the torch to Mike Sievert, the company’s former COO.

No. 13 Top Tech Employer: VMware

The virtualization superstar has been acquiring companies at a rapid pace in 2020, spending hundreds of millions gobbling up the likes of Datruim, Blue Medora, Fastline, Octarine and Nyansa. Palo Alto, Calif.-based VMware has approximately 31,000 employees.

VMware has bold plans of becoming the market leader in Kubernetes via its new VMware Tanzu portfolio while at the same time striving to disrupt the entire security industry by making cybersecurity intrinsic in VMware solutions. This week, Intel and VMware created a new integrated software platform aimed at helping communications service provides accelerate the rollout of LTE and 5G networks.

No. 11 Top Tech Employer: Oracle

The Redwood City, Calif.-based cloud applications and platform services specialist was the eleventh top tech employer during the second quarter. With around 136,000 globally, Oracle recently said its growing businesses are larger than its declining ones.

Oracle is one of the biggest spenders on building data centers, which hasn’t been impacted by COVID-19, in order to accommodate demand for Oracle Cloud. The company recently launched its second-generation Oracle Cloud services to provide public cloud-like economics.

After Oracle, the top tech employer in the second quarter ranked No. 12 was Anthem Blue Cross.

No. 10 Top Tech Employer: Dell

The $91 billion Round Rock, Texas-based infrastructure giant ranks No. 10 on Dice’s top employer report during the second quarter, although the company recently confirmed to CRN a new round of layoffs. Dell Technologies is the worldwide market leader in storage, servers and hyperconverged infrastructure while also striving to become the dominant leader in PCs with approximately 160,000 employees globally.

Dell Technologies is looking to spin off its 81 percent majority stake in VMware to Dell Technologies shareholders to give the company more capital, new investment opportunities and a more powerful R&D budget.

No. 8 Top Tech Employer: Leidos

Leidos is a massive $11 billion solution provider who specializes in the markets such as homeland security, defense and healthcare services on a global basis with more than 37,000 employees worldwide.

The Reston, Va.-based company ranks No. 10 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500 list. This week, Leidos reported second fiscal quarter revenues of $2.9 billion, up 7 percent year over year. Some of Leidos’ top vendor partnerships are with Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, McAfee, NetApp, Red Hat and Splunk.

After Ledios, the top tech employer in the second quarter ranked No. 9 was Lockheed Martin.

No. 7 Top Tech Employer: Infosys

The global solution provider and IT consultant was the seventh largest technology employer in the country during the second quarter of 2020. The nearly $13 billion channel partner powerhouse has 40 years of experience in managing enterprises IT environments with more than a dozen offices in the U.S. including in Atlanta, Houston, New York City and San Francisco.

Earlier this year, India-based Infosys made a big Salesforce channel play with the $250 million acquisition of Simplus, who is a Salesforce platinum partner. Infosys said the acquisition would quickly expand its enterprise cloud capabilities and presence across the U.S.

No. 1 Top Tech Employer: Amazon

The Seattle, Wash.-based public cloud titan was the leading employer in the second quarter of 2020, hiring technology positions focused on software developers, network engineers, program managers and system engineers. Amazon also created a significant number of e-commerce specialist job postings during the quarter as consumers used Amazon even more for their consumer and grocery needs in the wake of COVID-19.

Dice’s data relieves that Amazon, who has approximately 840,000 full and part-time staff in various industries, and defense contractors continue to be resilient and relevant amidst the global coronavirus pandemic.

After Amazon, the top tech employers in the second quarter ranked No. 2 through No. 6 were Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Ramy Infotech and Charles Schwab, respectively.
