Google Cloud Outage Takes Major Websites And Apps Down
An outage impacting Google Cloud’s networking services is likely the reason several major websites and apps went down Tuesday, including Snapchat, Spotify, Etsy and Pokemon Go. The cloud service provider says it has partially resolved the issue.
Google Cloud said it is experiencing an outage with its networking services that has likely caused several major websites and apps to go down mid-day Tuesday.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based cloud service provider said it has “partially resolved” an issue with networking services, which began around 1 p.m. ET, though customers won’t be able to “apply changes to their load balancers until the issue is fully resolved.” Google Cloud said on its status dashboard it will provide another update by 2:28 p.m.

The cloud service provider said it is also working to fix a service disruption with Google App Engine services across multiple regions that is tied to the networking issue.
“Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue. We apologize to all who are affected by the disruption,” Google Cloud said in the status update.
Users on Downdetector.com have reported outages for several popular websites, apps and services, including Snapchat, Spotify, Etsy, Pokemon Go, Discord, Target, Shopify and Nest.
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
